Ice Hockey World Championships

in Austria 1996

Again at Kaktus after a match SWE-FIN. The Swedes once again show how a party stone(?) should be drawn. An INCREDIBLE commotion!!! Gabbe, Fredner and Johnny on the bench and the guy to the right of Fredner must have worked at Mix Megapol in Falun if we don't remember completely wrong.

In order to really understand how heavy it was when the following pictures were taken, you should play "This is the way" with E-type or "Beautiful life" with Ace of base, LOUD while you see the pictures.

GO, GO, GO!!! Johnny cranks wildly with "The Norwegian/Swedish combination" inside Kaktus.

UP ON THE BAR!!! Another thing that also belongs to the World Championships: Bar dancing, with subsequent striptease...

As said! As much noise as there was in this pub when we Swedish fans were there, it probably hasn't been since.

We have more pictures from this occasion, but for the sake of the girl in those pictures, we have not posted them (it would be pretty shitty...)

Well, as you may remember, Sweden went out in the quarter against the USA and we in Svea Svin decided to go home to Sweden after this terrible defeat.

We felt like it had to be enough and even if the will is there, the body says stop after almost two weeks of consuming Redbull-and-Cola, beer in rivers and more alcohol than is humanly possible to consume.

Patrik found this poster and said ”Gabbe, touch her tits and I will take a photo”. Sure, why not.

We left Muppa where we had found him, in Fulda, and look forward to next year's World Championships in finland.

Back home in Gothenburg, it's time to clean out the car, which was easier said than done considering the life we had lived in it during these 10 (well, we weren't actually down longer) days that we visited the World Championships.

And the Hockey World Championships is over for this time, but there are only 50 weeks left until the next one...

Svea Svin's overall grading of the World Championships in Austria 1996:

Motivation: We can only state that the Austrians had arranged a real success when it comes to organising the Hockey World Championships in 1996!

We have never had as much fun as during the World Championships in Vienna. In addition, we had organised the whole thing from the beginning, so the accommodation was also top class. The Austrian organisers were incredibly nice, the police easy-going and accommodating, the souvenirs top-notch and the Austrians likeable as always.

It was in Austria that we once again had to live out our sick lives and bend over and party like never before. Our trip to Bratislava was also a success.

WE WANT THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN AUSTRIA AGAIN!!!

The Ice Hockey World Cup in Austria gets a solid 9 and if they had only had the basic game in a smaller place, like in Italy in 1994, and that the weather could have been better, then the ten points would have been a slap in the face, but otherwise the Hockey World Cup Championships in Austria was the best, funnest and most likeable World Championships we have been to!

The World Championships...

Best partyplace: was without a doubt Kaktus at Schwedenplatz! Damn, what a party!!! Highly recommended to anyone who wants to party in Vienna.

Most amateurich newbies: Must be a new gang that calls themselves the "Ruskiga Röjarna" who managed to plan their bus trip to the World Cup so "well" that they heard Sweden leave the World Cup against the USA when they were still on the bus down to the championships (???)

Please make us stop laughing! It is not easy to be a junior in the supporter league and we will see how long these ones remain at the World Championships.

Worst journey: The drunken trip we took together with the two narcotics officers in Bratislava will go down in history. Think the movie "The french connection" and multiply by 5 and you might get an idea...

The most important souvenirs, in our opinion, that must be available for sale at the World Championships:

This year's scarf was by far the longest we've had the opportunity to buy so far over the years. It was 185 cm and perfect to use as a real scarf. Unfortunately, it was only available in three variants, Austrian, Canadian and for the USA.

Four variations of patches were available for sale. One with the logo and three with this year's mascot Bully. Just as it should be and a prime example that the organisers have understood that freedom of choice is good.

Songs that we forever will connect with the World Championships in 1996:

"Beautiful life" Ace of Base

"Macarena" Los del Rio

"This is the way" E-type

"Lemon tree" Fool´s garden (This one was played goddamnit all the time and everywhere)
