Ice Hockey World Championship
in Austria 1996 - Vienna

Time to stop having vacation and time to get into the mood of the Championships again. So we went back to Kagran then head back into town for some serious drinking. It was not hard to remember the name of the subway station as it is called…
   

That is correct! “The Swedish place”. Every one that have ever visited Vienna knows that the subway station where all the cool bars and party places are located are at Schwedenplatz and the area is called “Bermuda” as they explained to us “All that goes in there goes down”.

PARTY; PARTY; PARTY!!! Inside Kaktus there were always party and the Swedish fans that kept the party going until the late nights.

To the right with his back to the camera is Bergman, a true veteran at the Championships and he has been around at least since 1991 in the party game.
Also note that Mia & Mia is doing the Macarena in one direction and Fredner, confused as always, is doing it in some other.

This Norwegian girl always woke us up at the caravan every morning. A really great girl that used to complain of the terrible stench in the caravan, and one morning she even brought us breakfast (?). One day she also took us for a guided tour in Vienna. We like! But why is she wearing Patriks hockey jersey?

   
 

To write on hooters seems to be a thing to do at the Championships, a good exercise that we endorse.

  
 

Before the game SWE-FIN it was once again time to start spreading the word that it was out at Kagran that the party was to start. People started to show up and we started drinking and painting the ones that wanted paint. The weather was great, people were drunk and disco music was pumping (well, maybe not pumping) from the stereo in the caravan. It was World Championships at its best!
   
   
Also our police friend Gerhard came to our carvan and decided to bring a colleague and have a beer together with us.
It happens at the Championships and only at the Championships.
Maria with her friends from Freiburg once again decided to start the hockey party toghether with us.
   

Time to go to the arena to defeat the finns. Of course the party continues on the subway and we managed to continue the good mood there too.
   
   

Here is a pic the finnish supporters. The finns always gets a massive amount of supporters every year and they are also very nice to deal with outside the arena as well.

Ok, sure maybe we were not as many as the finns. But our commitment and our will to win the supporter battle was nothing that anyone could ever doubt.
If you look closely you can see Muppa in Red hockey jersey in the middle to the right by the Swedish flag.

SWEEEEEEEEEDEEEEEEEEEN!!! You have to shout a lot so the team can hear you, and shouted we did!

Swedish hockey legend Håkan Södergren and the Swedish hockey commentator P.A. Gullö is at the game as always. For us Swedish fans they are well known faces during the Championships.
