Gabbe wakes up home by finnish people. How Gabbe managed to come into their hotel room in the middle of the night is still a huge mystery to everyone.

Pre-party with people from finland before the quarterfinal. Gabbe seems to be in good spirit and enjoying their company very well considering his normal “views” on the finnish national hockey team…

When being drunk, you can drop down into holes in the street. This is how “lovely” Gabbes leg looked after his close encounter with the street during the drinking during the second night in Moscow.

And then some eating, Here at the Georgian place that was discovered by the finnish supporters.

Ok, time to get ready for game SWE-CAN. Gabbe is, as always, on the phone with someone.

Ruskiga Röjarna (The terrible party starters) are lined up together with the crew from SVMK (the Swedish World championships club) outside Mytischi arena.
If you think it looks empty then you are right. No member from these clubs thought it was necessary to come to Moscow to support their team. Shame on you!

Gabbe is looking forward to an exciting quarterfinal.

An incredibly good motion from the Canadian supporters during the quarterfinal. There were not many of them but they really knew how to have fun and cheer on their team!

Ok that was that. Sweden lost to Canada and there is one more year until the next Championship. It actually feels quite good not having to bother anymore since this year it has really been terrible being at the championships.

In the taxi on the way to the airport. 10 wasted days, 1000 wasted Euros. Never, never again a World championships in Russia! Not if it is going to be like this.

Jorma, Ellu & Co. do we meet at the airport and they are just as disappointed on this event as the rest of us. It is quite amazing that they have been here since day one and we are wondering how they have coped with it all.

Svea Svin rates the World Championships in Moscow 2007:

Motivation: We had been looking forward to the World championship in Moscow for a number of reasons. Mostly because none of us had ever been to Moscow before, so the curiosity was big before arriving. But also because we hoped that the Russians maybe would want to show the world that Moscow is fun, party and not just alcoholised women and street sleepers and misery. But this championship was the most terrible, most boring, most amazingly poor piece of shit that we have ever visited. EVER! It was the lousiest piece of shit sorry excuse for an event ever seen since the IIHF started having this event 99 years ago. The only reason why it maybe feels a little bit good after Moscow 2007 is because we can say “I was there” and we can add 1 to the number of championships that we have been to and also yet another patch to the Hockey shirt. But that is all.
This championship was just a big waste of time and money in every way and the whole trip to Moscow was as terrible as watching porn with your parents. You don’t want to be there, you don’t want to see, you just want the terrible to go away. The Russians stole ten days of our life and we want them back. So to the organisers of the 99:th world championships in Ice Hockey we can only give you the finger and say

Thanks for nothing you miserable bastards!!!

Party mood:

This was amazing! There was nothing, NOTHING by the arena, not inside town, not on the countryside, nothing anywhere that said that there is a World championships taking place. There was no place where you could relax with alcohol and cigarettes before and after games, the organisers had no events connected to this event in any way. Even if they had had a clown juggling outside the arena it had been something. But no. It was like a Russian told us “This is Russia, we don’t have fun here, in Russia you mind your own business and you don’t du pleasant stuff” We could not have said it better ourselves.
If the Russians had put 1/1000 of the effort on the Championships as they did on the victory day it would have been good, but they could not even do that.

The surrounding around the arena:

Around the arena where Sweden were playing there was nothing, nothing and nothing. What was there were some kiosks that were selling candy, soda, souvenirs and meat-ice cream. The meat-ice cream was one of the very few positive things this year because they were quite tasty but that is nothing we can thank the organisers for. We think it is amazing that Russia that together with finland that have the most alcoholised population in the world decides to dry out the Championships and ban all form of alcohol.

Guards/Staff:

Everybody was acting nice and polite at Mytischi. The problems were just that the rules were changing from day to day, and suddenly you could realize that what was allowed one day was not the next. It had also been a good idea to hire staff that spoke at least one more language than Russian.

Souvenires:

Just like last year we found everything that we wanted. But the Russians were more business minded that their Latvian counterparts because the longer the Championships went, the cheaper the souvenirs became for the countries that were out of the tournament.

The two, according to us, most importand souvenirs that have to be on sale during the World championships.

This year’s scarf was of the same useless quality as last years. Maybe a small improvement since the logo is stitched onto the scarf but otherwise we still think that the Swiss firm The merchandisers produce complete crap and shit to sell during the World Championships in Ice Hockey.(Move your pointer over the scarf to see the reverse of it.)

the merchandisers produce shit souvenirs

The patch this year was in the same style as last year in Riga with the mascot and text about the event. Nothing more, nothing less and we are still irritated that there is no variant with the logo to choose from. But it is The Merchandisers who produces this shit so who is surprised?

The tournaments most...

…ironic
was Gabbe that during a harder vodka race on the 8:th asked some of his finnish friends “So, what will you do tomorrow? We will celebrate the victory in World War two together with the Russians. You know, they WON the war, but how did finland do? HAHAHAHA!!!! Jorma answered this total lack of diplomacy with silence and a bitter expression in the face.

…meanest T-shirt
had he Danish supporters. It was actually the meanest one we have seen since Jörgen made his own shirt during the Championships in Gothenburg in 2002.

…most assf***ed
were we that managed to get the prize down for the taxi from the airport to the hostel from 5000 to 3000 RUB and then realized that we could get it for about 800 RUB. We later found out that there actually was a taxi from the airport for 40 RUB. Say no more.

The Swedish national team did a very good tournament this year. It started good in the starting round and the qualifying round, we won against finland (it is now 6 years since this crappy team won over Sweden during the World championships). And we are amazed that they managed to go as far as the quarterfinals and we can just feel good that we lost there to the team that eventually became world champions. We are not in any way disappointed with Sweden, not in any way.

The finnish national team continues to produce sorrows and disappointments for their supporters. Once again the supporters from finland gets to see their team loose a final and feel that the misery and all the money spent in Russia was to no good. We can nothing but cheer (like we did after the final game CAN-fin) together with the Russian friends over the loss of finland. We must really say that if there is one country in the world that has given the looser mentality a face it is finland. The finns were crying like abandoned children at a shopping mall and the rest of the world were, like so many times before laughing at finland. That they never learn. Will they ever learn?

The Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet even made a small factsheet over “The finnish silver suite” to show people what a loosergang the finnish national hockey team really is.

But we are a little disappointed that they have excluded other looser games by finland so here we help the reporters at Aftonbladet.

1988, looses in the Olympic finals against the Soviet Union (it is very common for finland to loose against the Soviets also in other events…)
1992, looses against Sweden during the World Championships in Praha,  Czechoslovakia.
1994, looses against Canada during the World Championships in Milan, Italy

Even Aftonbladet made an ironic article about “The players with tears in their eyes” that you can download here.
Use Google translate to read the article in your language.

And next year the finnish (finished?) team will dissapoint their supporters in Canada again. Poor, poor little finns we feel so sorry for you. Not!
